Kings Camo - A Cheaper Alternative for Hot Weather Tropical Hunting

The Northern Territory is without doubt the warmest climate I have ever hunted in. Though Western NSW in Australia has higher temperatures (up to 50 degrees Celsius), the Northern Territory, due to the high humidity it feels much warmer. For a lot of the locals, often we don’t really spend too much time outdoors and out of the Air Conditioning between the months of November and April. We will however force ourselves out of course for Waterfowl hunting and of course the famous Barramundi run off fishing. Thankfully most of the Safari Hunting is done in the cooler months between Late June and early August.
When it comes to hunting clothing, what you want is something light weight that is fairly loose against the skin and is cool to wear.I have tried clothing from what I would call the big four premium hunting clothing brands; Kuiu, Sitka, Firstlight and Stone Glacier, but aside from Sitka, none of their gear is really suitable for really warm weather hunting in my opinion. Enter Kings.I had never seen this brand until one of our hunting clients brought some over on a trip. I could see it ticked all the boxes straight away.I loved the camo pattern; Desert, which blends in well with our dry season foliage. The style has a lot of browns and light greens.. It looked well cut and designed and the material looks like it would repel hook grass seeds also. To cut a long story short, after the safari, I ended up ordering a pair of 'Hunter' pants, 'Hunter' short sleeve T shirt and a 'XKG Elevation 1/4 Zip' Tee shirt, all in Desert camo pattern. The real surprise was the cost, and each item was literally less than half the cost of similar items with the big four brands. The shipping cost to Australia from the USA is horrendous however but that’s another story. I'm very happy with the gear, the quality is excellent and I wore the Hunter Pants and Hunter Tee for the first time yesterday, on a day hunt.
37 degrees Celsius it was by two PM and though it was uncomfortably hot, the Kings gear came through well. I didn't have that hot clingy feeling that I got when I tried wearing a Kuiu Ghila top in similar conditions. The Hunter Pants were comfortable and protected my skin well from the abrasive spear grass that is so prevalent here. The only disappointment was the XKG Tee Shirt was at least a size too small for me, even thought I had ordered a medium. Not to worry thought as it fits my wife perfectly. The Kings clothing is not as ' technically cut' and designed as well as the big brands and the bits I bought are not fancy hi-tech materials, they are just blended or 100% polyester. For hot climate hunting, they are great thought and completely suitable. What’s more is you just can’t beat the price. Kings - Well worth a look when considering hunting clothing for Hot Climate Hunting
